about me

Hi, I'm Taylor. I'm a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner, psychotherapist, and professor at the University of North Florida. I hold a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from the University of Florida, with a specialization in advanced practice psychiatric nursing (PMHNP-BC). During grad school, I also worked as a crisis counselor and trainer for the Alachua County Crisis Center. I completed postgraduate residency training with the VA Boston and Harvard South Shore Psychiatry. In addition to my clinical work, I am a PhD candidate in nursing at Boston College, where my research focuses on health and wellbeing in adults with ADHD.
My clinical background is in integrated psychotherapy and psychiatric medication management with various populations, including college students, LGBTQ+ individuals, older adults, perinatal clients, and Veterans across inpatient and outpatient settings. I recently completed the Finley Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Fellowship and was selected as a 2026 American Psychoanalytic Association Fellow. I plan to continue advanced psychoanalytic psychotherapy training and certification through the Chicago Psychoanalytic Institute. I engage in ongoing clinical supervision to promote safe and ethical practice, while fostering continuous professional development.
My work is primarily rooted in the psychodynamic and psychoanalytic tradition, while also drawing upon my background in Bowen family systems therapy, CBT, DBT, and existential-humanistic therapy when helpful. I bring an eclectic lens to my clinical work, bridging the breadth my knowledge and experience as a clinician-scientist with my deep appreciation for the spiritual, relational, and meaning-making dimensions of life.
approach
Hearthwood & Veil is for those seeking more than symptom management. Whether you are navigating anxiety, depression, grief, ADHD and neurodiversity-related challenges, relationship struggles, spiritual questions, medication concerns, or a major life transition, our work will help you build the foundation necessary for healing, growth, and lasting change.
My approach is depth-oriented, relational, and collaborative. Together, we may explore early life experiences, family patterns, attachment, identity, dreams, defenses, grief, shame, desire, and the ways the past continues to shape the present. When indicated, I also prescribe psychiatric medications in cases where symptoms interfere with the therapeutic process.
For clients questioning their relationship to psychiatric medication, I also offer medication education and de-prescribing support, as well as evidence-based nutritional and nootropic supplementation, when appropriate. For established clients who are interested, tarot or astrology may also be incorporated as optional tools for reflection, self-inquiry, and meaning-making. These practices are not used to predict the future, diagnose conditions, or replace psychotherapy, but may offer another language for self-understanding.

“People call me a philosopher or a scientist or an anthropologist. I am none of those things. I am an anamnesiologist. I study what has been forgotten. I divine what has disappeared utterly. I work with absences, with silences, with curious gaps between things. I am really more of a magician than anything else.”
― Laurence Arne-Sayles, interview in The Secret Garden, May 1976, from the preface of Piranesi by Susanna Clarke
